Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the very one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. In all my travels I've encountered many people who are not from Colorado. They'll beg, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you come from Colorado. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short time in small folk groups. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver discovered that it was destined to be a huge hit after he heard an earlier version. The track was released just a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
